Elaine Ruth Oelschlager, 90, of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 27, 2017 at her home in Mill Ridge Terrace.
She was born July 14, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Osmar and Emma (Trempel) Marschner. She attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School and later graduated from North Side High School in Fort Wayne. Elaine worked as a secretary at a medical insurance company in Fort Wayne for a short time.
On July 11, 1948 she was united in marriage to Pastor Alfred Oelschlager of Minnesota in Fort Wayne. She served with him at various Lutheran congregations in Minnesota and she retired with Alfred in 1987 from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston. They moved to Cambridge in 1987 and spent their remaining years there. Alfred passed away in June 2005 and Elaine had been a resident at Mill Ridge for the past 14 years.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, camping, volunteering and spending time with family as well as attending her grandchildren’s activities over the years.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred and one sister. She is survived by her daughter Marlys and husband Gregory Withers of Coon Rapids, son Keith and wife Nancy Oelschlager of Woodbury, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Wright officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Princeton.
